The Emerald Resort is situated in a small township known as Emerald, some 40km south east of Melbourne's CBD. Located within the Dandenongs, which contain over 250,000ha of national parks and numerous tourist attractions.
Amongst the major tourist attractions are the National Rhododendron Gardens, Sherbrook Forest, and Puffing Billy Railways. Apart from these attractions, there are numerous stately homes and gardens such as Mawarra, Burnham Beeches, Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens and Pirianda.
It is within this setting that The Emerald Resort is located. Reached by a pleasant drive through magnificent scenery from Melbourne within the desired 45 minutes. The temperate and invigorating climate provides Melbournians with a breath of fresh air together with the atmosphere of the mountains, as popular today as it was earlier this century when the original development was conceived.
Nested in the heart of the magnificent Dandenong Ranges, The Emerald Golf & Country Resort can quite rightly lay claim to being one of the most picturesque and aesthetically pleasing golf courses in Victoria.
The Emerald Golf & Country Resort has its genesis in the vision and foresight of two Melbourne businessmen, Bert S. Stillwell and Harry W. Treganowan. In 1923, the pair conceived the idea of establishing a country golf club that would serve as an attractive and exclusive retreat for city businessmen.
